LET'S SKIP THE OPENING ACT.

We only care to see the mane event.

FOUNDED IN 2004,

War Horse Place

is a full-service boutique Thoroughbred operation in the heart of Kentucky's Bluegrass region.

Housed on 180 acres of prime Kentucky grazing War Horse Place was founded by entrepreneur Gerry Aschinger & pilot Dana Aschinger. With a shared passion for horses and Kentucky, they launched a farm built on the principle of offering the highest standards in equine care in a boutique setting. The farm offers services for all stages of your Thoroughbred's life; broodmare and foal care, sales preparation and consignment, lay-ups and post surgical management. Our excellent facilities include large, well ventilated stalls, a mixture of small turn out and large paddocks enclosed with v-mesh fencing, and monitored 24-hours a day by our on-site staff.

STALLIONS

ROMBAUER RETURNS

to his Kentucky home.

Rombauer, the 2021 Preakness Stakes winner, has indeed had an impressive and varied career both on the racetrack and in his transition to a breeding stallion.

After his time in Chile for the southern hemisphere breeding season, where he covered an impressive 60 mares, Rombauer has returned to War Horse Place, his home base. This reflects the growing demand for his services as a sire, especially given his strong pedigree and versatile racing career.

Rombauer was sired by Twirling Candy, a stallion known for producing versatile runners, and his dam, Cashmere by Cowboy Cal, which brings a touch of class and stamina to his lineage.

His victory in the 2021 Preakness Stakes stands as one of the key highlights of his racing career. Rombauer’s ability to adapt to various distances and surfaces—whether dirt, turf, or synthetic—showcased his versatility and stamina. His win at Pimlico was particularly notable because he outlasted other contenders and displayed a strong finishing kick, cementing his place as a top competitor.

His success on the track, coupled with his strong bloodlines, makes him an attractive option for breeders looking to sire horses with stamina, versatility, and a proven racing pedigree. His ownership by John and Diane Fradkin also provides a strong foundation, as they are well respected in the industry.
